Uniform rules and expectations: Advice for parents and carers

We are all very proud of our school. Our uniform when worn correctly, unifies us, gives us a common identity and sets us apart from others. We have deliberately kept our uniform simple, affordable and accessible for all; therefore, I am keen to ensure that it is worn correctly and with pride. As a school with a uniform, there is a clear expectation that all students should strictly adhere to the school uniform policy. This page is intended to offer you some practical advice and guidance on the most common issues and causes for concern regarding school uniform at Moat Community College. Hopefully, it will answer your questions and make the school’s position clear.

Notes on uniform

• Students must remove all items of jewellery before participating in physical activity, for safety reasons.
• During the winter months, students are allowed to wear extra layers but not wear their coat/jacket for PE.

Pre-Loved Uniforms – Supporting Families and Sustainability

We are pleased to offer a selection of pre-loved school uniform items to our families. This initiative is part of our commitment to supporting our school community and promoting sustainability.

There are several reasons why we offer pre-loved uniform:

•    Affordability: We understand that the cost of school uniform can be a challenge for some families. Pre-loved items provide a more affordable option without compromising on quality or standards.
•    Sustainability: Reusing uniform helps reduce waste and supports our efforts to be environmentally responsible. It’s a simple but powerful way to teach our children about caring for the planet.
•    Community Spirit: This initiative encourages a culture of sharing and support within our school. Families who donate outgrown uniform help others, and together we create a more inclusive and caring environment.

All items are carefully checked to ensure they are clean and in good condition. If you would like to browse available items or donate uniform your child has outgrown, please contact the school office. Pre-loved uniform information will be sent to parents via our WEDUC school app. In July every year our partner charity Lifting Children’s Hopes runs a pop up shop in Highcross offering pre-loved uniform. Parents will be notified in advance of this event.
